Hamilton Park
Hamilton Park
Commissioner : Bury Metropolitan Borough Council Fabricator : Keith Sharrat This project involved the design and project management of an achitectural wrought-iron trellis and handrail for Hamilton Park Memorial Garden in Whitefield, which was part of a major regeneration of the park that included re-landscaping and planting. The artwork celebrates the meaning of the park to local residents, many of whom had close family connections to the two World Wars. The soaring, foliate design of the ironwork expresses remembrance, hope and renewal. |

Bowlee Park

Commissioner : Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council Fabricator : Tracey Howe
A series of nineteen carved sandstone boulders for a community park bordering a large social housing estate in Middleton, near Manchester. The ninety-acre open grassland site is used by residents of the estate for recreational purposes. The project involved close consultation with community groups and individuals. The stones, each one of which is carved with a motif representing the history of the area, are located adjacent to the many footpaths crossing the site. |

Signs of Life
Signs of Life
Commissioner : North British Housing Association Fabricator : Stephen Hitchin Signs of Life is a series of forty-five small, low-relief limestone panels set into the elevations of a new-build social housing project. The work was part of a major regeneration scheme for Hulme, an area of Manchester that was, at the time, emerging from a long period of social and economic challenge. The title of the work refers to this new beginning and celebrates some of the many interpretations of the word ‘home’. |

Commissioner : North British Housing Association Fabricator : Stephen Hitchin Centenary was the second project commissioned by NBHA as part of its housing regeneration scheme for Hulme. A series of eighteen large, low-relief limestone panels reflect the vibrant history of the area by illustrating the working lives of people who had previously lived on the site. |

Malton Hospital
Malton Hospital
Commissioner : Hospital Arts for North East Yorkshire for Scarborough and NE Yorkshire Health Trust Fabricators : Jane Poulton and others A varied scheme of artworks for the new-build Fitzwilliam Ward and Outpatients Department, including embroidered and constructed textiles, poetry, motifs for windows and flooring, paintings, a community garden and a changing museum display. The project involved working closely with the project managers, architects and hospital staff, and brought together various community agencies including Malton High School, The Derwent Diggers (a community gardening group), and Ryedale Folk Museum. |

Stockport Town Centre Artist
Town Centre Artist
Commissioner : Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council This was a long-term project commissioned by SMBC, working within the regeneration team and with a variety of agencies, including market traders, highways engineers, the Civic Trust, as well as with fabricators. The artwork evolved into various implemented and strategic pilot projects including highways signage, merchandising products, the design of street furniture, a Millennium dance project with school groups, identity branding, and retail signage. |

Here We Are
Here We Are
Commissioner : South Liverpool Homes Here We Are was a public art project in collaboration with co-artist Lin Holland. It was commissioned by South Liverpool Homes to mark the building of new housing developments at Speke and Allerton. A series of 'digital paintings', which were designed as fully functioning postcards, celebrate the 'landscapes' of South Liverpool: natural, historical, industrial, political and social. Information, facts and figures were given on the reverse side of each postcard. Packs of the ten cards were given to all tenant households of South Liverpool Homes. |
